Do you suffer from “no systems syndrome” in your personal training business?

Creating solid business systems will not only help your business run more effectively it will also help grow your personal training business. To illustrate this point think about the many turn-key operations that exist today. Curves, Starbucks, McDonalds they all have one thing in common, replicable business systems. If your personal training business is currently suffering from “no systems syndrome” then it’s time to jump on board and start creating them.

My suggestion is to find a binder and start organizing your business. You should be able to give this binder to anyone and they should be able to read it and know exactly what your business is all about. Here’s are the sections you would include in your company binder.

1. Company vision, mission and purposed statement

2. The story of how you started the business

3. Trainer profiles

4. Business policies – cancellations, refunds, payment etc.

5. Business procedures – what happens when someone signs up for training

6. Forms – a sample of all the forms you use

7. Business and marketing plan

8. Sales strategies – scripts

9. Special events and promotions

10. Budget spreadsheet

11. Annual report

Even if you are a small independent trainer working part-time this is a good exercise for you to take on. You never know, you may want to grow bigger and it will be easier for you to do so if you have your systems in place.

If you are considering growing your business or opening a studio then this manual is a must have. It will help you to understand your business on a deeper level and is good exercise to build your organizational skills.
